Wood artists use timber to make artistic pieces. They make a range of products from decorative sculptures to useful objects such as furniture, tissue holders, and bottle openers to walking stuffs. They integrate their artistic talent with practical need of the consumer to produce marveling products of great detail since timber can easily be shaped compared to stone of other metals.

In the realm of timberworks, there are many special skill and techniques to be mastered. This focus on specifics of the artist. This is due to the widespread use of timber from making sculptures to furniture's and boats.

Basic technique of art involves masquetry. Timber burning and obviously chip carving. Chip carving is where they remove chips of timber from a flat surface in a single piece. Masquetry on the other hand is a more complex in involves imprinting of the design or image on the wood by use of a veneer which is inlayed on the medium. It is done such that the medium and veneer recession are same. Burning is where they apply controlled heat on the wood giving different tones and shades by varying the tip use, temperature and method of application. It is also known as pyrography.

To perfect their pieces they apply finishing techniques. This include sanding, scorching, weathering or leaving it as it is. Coating it with varnish or paint also enhances textured. All this is aimed at to enhance the texture and rain of the wood. Good finishing has an ability to enhance the art and when integrated with the grain n figure of the wood makes its appearance more appealing.

Art has the quality of timelessness. You will never get it wrong whether its decorating you office or house, souvenirs for a friend o adding life to old pieces of furniture. The artistic creativity made by the close attention to detail given by the undying devotion to impress by the artists guarantees a masterpiece.

Wood artists have continued to develop this art over a period of very many years and have explored the n discovering the diversified uses of wood. Although it falls prey to insect invasions and water rot, timber art is persistently popular.
